It’s been a minute, huh?  You may have been wondering what I have been up to since the opening of the movie The Salon.  Well, I have a lot of projects that are in development, and I am about to embark on something that is definitely an opportunity for me to get some name recognition.

I am one of the new Co-Hosts of The RoJo Informative Show which is an internet radio show designed to educate the listener about money and enhancing financial literacy.  You can listen to the show Monday thru Friday from 10am – 11am on WFLO-The Flow; powered by IM4Radio.com.  My first broadcast and the shows first on-site broadcast will be live at The Old Country Buffet in Waldorf, MD on Monday morning July 23rd from 10am – 12pm (EST).  On Monday, you should be able to listen to the show via www.rojoinformative.com (or im4radio.com).  We want to pack the house, so if you’re in the MD/DC/VA area COME ON OUT, have breakfast with us, show your support and please tell a friend!!! If you have a product/service that you would like to donate as part of one of our raffles/giveaways, please let me know and in exchange I will advertise your business at The Old Country Buffet and live on the air on Monday.  We are also looking for sponsors who are interested in purchasing internet radio spots to advertise his/her product/service regularly on the show.  Please see the email flyer below for more information about Monday and feel free to contact me regarding the sponsor program.

If you are not able to be there on Monday, maybe you are scheduled to work during this time, please show your support by logging onto www.rojoinformative.com (or im4radio.com) and listen to the show.

Thanks so much for your support and I hope to see/talk to you real soon!!!

Follow My Hustle and Flow

Those of you that know me, know that I have been an entertainer since the age of 4 and have been pursuing a career professionally in the industry over the past 12 years; both full-time and part-time.  When I’m acting, dancing, modeling or singing, I’m in my element.  I get such a natural high when I perform.  I simply love it.  As you may or may not know, it’s not and hasn’t been easy; especially living in the Washington, DC area.  There are opportunities here, but not as great as in LA or NY.  There is competition here, yet not as stiff as in LA or NY.  You have to really get your hustle on and if you want to be available for a chance at that “big break”, you really can’t work a full-time job (not unless you find a really flexible employer who will allow you to take off at the drop of a hat and be off for several days at a time with no ramifications, whew big word).  You have to bartend, wait tables, work in retail/sales, temp, have your own business or collect unemployment between gigs. I have always been a believer in having multiple streams of income, as well as passive/residual income.  A J.O.B. (just over broke) is not always secure and if one business is slow, you can rely on another source.
For the next 6 months check out my blog weekly, as I chronicle my experiences in the entertainment industry, with my real estate businesses and with the network marketing industry.  Read about my ups and downs with auditions, gigs, and how well my various businesses are doing.  Check out the sites below.  I just may be offering a service/opportunity that you may be interested in or need.

I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend!!  I just wanted to take the time to thank everyone who was able to support my big screen debut in the movie The Salon over the past few weeks in the theaters.  I know, I know, the material was a bit dated and of course your typical Barbershop storyline, but please understand that this movie was done several years ago and the release of it was held up because of the legalities behind the release of Queen Latifah’s, Beautyshop, but that’s a whole ‘nother story.  Not to mention the fact that they really didn’t put much effort into advertising because they want to focus more on the DVD sells.  But nonetheless, I worked with some heavy hitters, enjoyed the experience, made some great contacts/friends and cashed the check (smile).

Since the opening, I have had a few auditions, worked on The Wire and the movie Get Smart and have a few business ventures in development.  You know a sista’ has to get her hustle on to make things happen.  One project in particular that I’m working on is the development of a novel into a television pilot.  This of course is a big opportunity for me because it would afford me the opportunity to work both behind the scenes and get that experience, as well as be an actor in this project and his ensuing television/movie adaptations of his other books.  Jonathan Luckett is his name and he is a local area writer/author and the title of the book is The Mating Game - www.jonathanluckett.com.  The story takes place here in Washington, DC and Jonathan wants to use all local talent and crew to complete this project.  We are in the process now of looking for investors to finance this project.  Every investor will receive producer credit and we are asking for investments beginning as low as $1,000. If you or maybe someone you know has ever thought about getting into investing and/or are in need of something else to invest money in, please get in contact with me.

Until next time!
